ABOUT US

Hayfield Lakes is regarded by many at the North's Premier fishery hosting the sport's biggest and most prestigious events including previous televised Fish O' Mania finals and, now, the Maver Mega Match This Grand Final. The venue continues to go from strength to strength thanks to massive investment from owners Robin and Noelie Goforth. However, Hayfield Lakes wasn't always a commercial fishery, but instead evolved from very humble beginnings.

HOW IT ALL STARTED

The Fitzgerald coat of arms

The land used to belong to Earl Fitzwilliam. The Fitzwilliam's were a very wealthy family acquiring extensive holdings throughout South Yorkshire largely through strategic alliances. The nearby private residance owned by Robin & Noelie Goforth served as the Earl's shooting lodge with the surrounding area being used for farm land.

Robin purchased the farm and surrounding lands in 1987, primarily for personal use with extensive rennovation work needed. The lakes were excavated shortly afterwards with Dannie's Island lake being the first in 1991, followed by the addition of Adam's Lake two years later. Dannie's Lake was, again, excavated solely for Robin's private use, but upon receiving numerous requests from anglers if they could fish the lake, he decided to open it up to members of the public and so Hayfield Lakes was born.
